One Good Thought is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth to effect positive change in the world. Funds donated to our organization go toward educational programs and special volunteer projects in communities around the world in which youth are active participants.
Mission statement: To empower youth to effect positive change in the world.
(1) To support and engage youth in charitable volunteer activities; (2) To develop and instruct Leadership and Service Learning curriculum to empower youth; (3) To conduct public forums, discussion groups, and after-school activities that support the mission.
At the core of One Good Thought is supporting youth in developing leadership skills and helping them to contribute to the greater good of society. We cooperate with other non-profit organizations such as EarthWatch Institute to actively engage students in various volunteer projects that provide a lasting impact in the world. Projects range from participating in scientific studies of Climate Change at the Arctic's Edge to studying Ecology in the Rainforests to supporting education programs in needy communities around the globe.
Students greatly benefit from volunteering as One Good Thought helps organize their trips while they learn the necessary skills to effect positive change in the future. This is complemented with the experience of a unique cultural exchange that helps to broaden their horizons with a wider cultural perspective.
To raise funds for One Good Thought, Sean Stringer has raced a record number of Ironman triathlons around the world in 2009. The first one was in Malaysia and the last one was in Western Australia. The aim is to raise as much awareness as possible for One Good Thought. "It is important to support our youth in volunteer projects around the world," says Sean, "so that they will feel empowered to take future action for the benefit of everyone in it."
"First comes one good thought of doing something positive in the world, then comes the action to empower people to effect that change."
Please help support our youth in creating a better world!
